Social Media’s Impact on Mental Health

The study of mental health on social media has become increasingly important recently. Systematic reviews have even been conducted on social media use and mental health. When developing your research question, you can draw on an extensive body of previous research. Individuals and organizations can formulate guidelines to aid community members by examining both the good and bad effects of social media sites on mental health. Social media users’ mental health might also be addressed by this research topic. My semester’s topic is “Social Media’s Impact on Mental Health” because I want to study it in depth.

In my discussion of my topic of socialization, I think there are a lot of negative aspects of social media. Since social networking is still relatively new, studies examining its positive or negative effects on users’ lives are scant. Heavy social media use has been connected in numerous studies to raised risks of mental health matters like sadness, worry, aloneness, self-harm, and even suicide notion. There are destructive experiences such as insufficiency about our life or appearance.

Society and social interactions related to my topic on “social media’s impact on mental health”; social media’s negative aspects include fear of missing out and social media addiction. Many people are afraid to be left out of worldwide trending events. Through this, being has become dependent on those social media platforms. Other negative aspects are; isolation, depression and anxiety, and cyberbullying.

The sociological notion of deviation examines how people or groups that act in ways that are counter to societal norms and expectations are categorized and dealt with. The effect of social media on one’s mental health is a further development of this idea of deviation. Inadequacy, poor self-esteem, and social comparison can result from users on social media platforms presenting a controlled and idealized picture of themselves to others. This is because social media frequently amplifies and reinforces societal standards of beauty, success, and pleasure, encouraging an atmosphere of pressure to comply.
